This is a little tidbit that I have found and am
testing it out for accuracy. The first section seems to be a bit off, that
or I just get the oddballs... You will see on the
right where I have charted my dogs as an evaluation point.
Generally the 8 and 12 week estimates seem to be
most accurate. At 8 weeks I triple the weight and add 1/2lb, at 12 weeks I
double the weight and add 1/2 lb. Now if I am estimating over the 7 lb
weight mark it is simply not predictable.
I have noticed that my Poms usually reach their full
height (at the whithers) by the time they're 7-8 months old, but they continue
to fill out till around 15 or 16 months.
I have also noticed that a clear/solid color pom will have its full structure at
around 7 months and a parti or parti-factored will be closer to 5 months,
but the parti coat seems to come in later than the clear colors.
As far as the coat goes it normally depends on
the dog and how thick the coat of mom and dad are and whether the dog is male or
female. The males get their full coat younger, usually right after their first
big coat blow which happens around the 1 year mark. The females often don't get
full coat until they are 16-24 months, sometimes only after a first litter.
This data is by no means gospel, just my notes on
my puppies.
